Cherky Beef Bar Beetroot & Cranberries – organic beef meets fruit

Cherky Beef Bar Beetroot & Cranberries is a 35g organic beef bar with cranberries and beetroot worked straight into the meat. Cherky use lean cuts of pastured beef — 73.7% of the bar, or 188g of beef for every 100g of finished product — with no additives and no added sugar. The berries and the beetroot do not mask the beef; they make it taste more like itself.

Why this bar is worth a try

Organic, from farm to bar: The beef, cranberries, beetroot and apple cider vinegar all come from organic farming.

No added sugar: The sweetness comes from the fruit rather than a sugar bag, and there are no additives in the recipe.

32.6g protein per 100g: Plus 7g of fibre from chicory inulin, which is where the bar gets its softer, less stringy body.

Who makes it

Cherky are a Spanish producer based in Ribafrecha, La Rioja. They press lean pastured beef together with fruit and vegetables into a solid bar rather than drying strips, which is why it eats more like a snack bar than a piece of jerky.

Taste: Savoury beef first, then tart cranberry and the earthy sweetness of beetroot. Very lightly peppered.

Texture: Soft and dense, with a gentle chew — easier going than a traditional dried strip.

Perfect for

Running, cycling and long walks: A 35g bar fits a jersey pocket and does not need a bottle of water to get through.

Post-workout protein: Real meat instead of a protein bar built out of syrup and soy crisps.

The lunchbox: Something savoury that survives being sat on, which is more than most snacks manage.
