Chokay Bio Snackbar Salty Almond – dark chocolate, almonds, a pinch of sea salt

The Chokay Bio Snackbar Salty Almond is a 30 g organic dark chocolate snack bar with roasted almonds and sea salt. It is 79% dark chocolate, 20% almonds and 1% sea salt, and that last one per cent is what turns a good dark chocolate bar into something you finish standing up in the kitchen. No added sugars or sweeteners, vegan and Fair Trade certified.

What makes this snackbar different

Salt that earns its place: Sea salt makes up 1% of the bar. It sharpens the cocoa and pulls the almond flavour forward instead of just tasting salty.

No added sugars or sweeteners: Nothing sweet is added at all, with inulin fibre doing the job sugar normally would.

Vegan and Fair Trade: No animal ingredients and Fair Trade certified cocoa, all wrapped in paper packaging rather than plastic.

Who makes it

Chokay is a Dutch chocolate maker based in Breda, in the Netherlands. Everything in this bar is from organic origin — cocoa mass, cocoa butter, skimmed cocoa powder, sunflower lecithin, natural vanilla and the almonds themselves.

Taste: Intense dark cocoa, toasted almond, then a clean salty finish.

Texture: Firm snap with almond crunch through the middle.

Perfect for

Handbag and rucksack: At 30 g it is a single-serving bar, which is exactly why it survives being carried around.

The coffee break: Dark chocolate and salt work beautifully against a black coffee.

A savoury sweet tooth: For the people who reach for salted nuts and chocolate at the same time and want to stop choosing.
