Kings Veggie Jerky Smokey Bacon is a plant based, vegan alternative for jerky. Even if it's vegan it's delicious, high in protein and low in fat. Definitely worth trying especially for vegans but why not also for jerky lovers in general.

It's plant based. But why would someone want to eat this?

I wonder why is this product even created. Maybe there are vegans who were hard core meat eaters, and have a jerky craving?

The first hing I noticed is the smell. Very strong, quite artificial, almost makes a headache. If I leave the bag open, after a minute or two it become less pronounced, and is better.

The texture: first it is very hard to chew, almost like trying to bite into a leather belt. Then, after a few tries, it falls apart completely and there's nothing to chew on.

I finished one bag to really give it a chance to try, but I couldn't go for the second bag.

If you want to eat plant based proteins, I think the best is: just eat 15-20 g of almonds (about 1g per piece, easy to count), which has 24% proteins, and no added sugar or preservatives. Or get a low-sugar high-protein snack bar, which usually has milk protein added. Those taste great, you still have to chew, and is natural.

This product feels like an over-processed, artificial bioengineering experiment that has little real-life benefit. I'm sorry, but I can't write much positive about it.

All in all, if you are adventurous, get one bag and try, before ordering many of this.
