Barazzo Pork Jerky Barbecue 1 kg (8x125g) — the box that replaces the crisps
A kilo of Barazzo barbecue pork jerky in eight resealable bags. This is the workhorse of the Barazzo range: sweet-smoky barbecue over tender air-dried pork, bought in the quantity that stops you running out on a Wednesday. Barazzo's whole approach is aimed at exactly this — a lean, high-protein snack sold in a format that makes it an everyday thing rather than an occasional treat.
Please note: contrary to what the packaging says, the meat used is from the EU rather than specifically from Germany.
Why the kilo box
- Bought by weight, not by sachet: eight 125 g bags work out considerably better than the same kilo assembled from single servings.
- Barazzo keeps the frills out: no elaborate packaging, no heavy advertising. The money goes into the meat and the price reflects it.
- Lean and high in protein: air-dried pork from selected farms, premium cuts only, seasoned with Barazzo's own barbecue mix.
- Seven bags stay sealed: the format does the portion control for you, which a one-kilo sack would not.
Taste and texture
Sweet-smoky barbecue first, then clean savoury pork underneath it. This is the American sweet-and-smoky idea of barbecue rather than the fiery kind — there is no chilli in it at all, and nothing in the flavour builds. The slices are pliable and tear easily, softer than beef jerky and noticeably kinder to chew, which is what Barazzo was aiming for when it built a pork range in the first place.
Who it's for
Offices, workshops, garages and anywhere else a snack drawer gets raided. It holds up as the savoury option in front of the television, it survives a school bag, and it is the box to buy if you have decided that crisps are a habit worth replacing with something that tastes of meat. A kilo sounds like a lot until two people share the cupboard.
Frequently asked
Does it have to go in the fridge? Not while the bags are sealed. Keep them somewhere cool and dry, then reseal after opening and get through that bag over the following days.
Is it hot? No. Barbecue here means sweet and smoky. There is no chilli heat to it at all.
How does it compare with the Honey Mustard version? Honey Mustard is sweeter and tangier. Barbecue is the smokier, more savoury of the two and the easier one to eat repeatedly.
