Kuivalihakundi Greasy Pork Jerky Korean Style – Korean BBQ you can keep in a coat pocket

Kuivalihakundi Greasy Pork Jerky Korean Style is not a standard lean strip and does not want to be. "Greasy Pork" is the Finnish brand's richer line: Finnish pork neck instead of lean muscle, a deeper marinade, and a softer, more luxurious chew. The Korean Style version runs that fattier base through a marinade built on the sweet-savoury-spicy logic of Korean barbecue.

Why this one

  • A fattier cut, on purpose: pork neck rather than the ultra-lean muscle most jerky uses, because fat is where marinade flavour lives.
  • Real gochujang: the fermented chilli paste itself, not chilli powder shaken over the top at the end.
  • The sweetest bag Kuivalihakundi makes: Korean barbecue is a naturally sweet style and this does not apologise for it.
  • Made in Finland with Finnish pork.

How Kuivalihakundi makes it

Most jerky is cut from the leanest meat available because fat is difficult to dry. Kuivalihakundi takes the opposite bet with Greasy Pork: keep more of the pork fat in the strip, then manage it with the cure and a careful, slow dry. Alongside the gochujang, mirin brings the glossy sweetness that a bulgogi or galbi marinade depends on.

Taste and texture

Sweet and savoury at the same time, with fermented chilli warmth spreading behind it and a faint winey brightness cutting through. The pork fat carries all of it further than a lean strip could, which is the whole reason for the format. The chew is soft and yielding, closer to cooked meat than to dried, and it coats the mouth in a way lean jerky never manages.

Who it is for

Anyone who has sat at a Korean barbecue table and wished they could take the leftovers home in a pocket. People who have decided that standard jerky texture is a bit thin and want something with body. A cold Korean lager or a shot of soju sits alongside it perfectly, and it carries a film night rather than accompanying one.

Frequently asked

Is it actually greasy? It is richer than a lean strip, which is the point, but it is not oily in the hand. Think tender and mouth-coating rather than messy.

How does it compare with the beef bags? Softer, sweeter and considerably richer. If Kuivalihakundi Original is the clean, dry end of the range, this is the other end entirely.

Which size should I get? The 50 g bag to find out, the 150 g bag once you know, and the twenty-pack case if it becomes a habit.
