Cherky Beef Jerky Teriyaki

Cherky Beef Jerky Teriyaki is an organic beef jerky made in Spain, built around organic tamari and a deliberately tender bite. Men’s Health named Cherky’s organic Teriyaki one of its top three products for athletes in 2020.

As in every Cherky recipe, the aim was a tender product with a very balanced taste that respects the natural flavour of organic beef. Where most jerky is dried until it fights back, Cherky keep theirs yielding.

The tamari difference

For the teriyaki marinade Cherky use organic tamari rather than a standard sauce off the shelf. Tamari is brewed with koji, water and sea salt, and it brings a rounded savouriness to the marinade instead of the sharp, salty edge that cheap teriyaki glazes have.

What goes into it

Selected lean organic beef cuts — 222 g of beef for every 100 g of finished jerky — with tamari, honey, tomato paste, apple vinegar, onion, garlic, sea salt and white pepper. The ingredients marked organic come from organic agriculture.

Taste and texture

Sweet and savoury together, with the honey and tomato rounding off the salt and a gentle white pepper warmth at the back. Soft and pliable rather than leathery, with a proper meaty grain running through each slice.
