Kuivalihakundi Beef Jerky Garlic — one thing, turned up
Kuivalihakundi Beef Jerky Garlic is the Finnish beef base of the Original with the garlic allowed to step forward and do the talking. Real garlic goes into the cure before drying rather than getting dusted on at the end, and the difference is obvious from the first chew.
Why this one
- Still a five-line recipe: nothing was added to make the garlic louder. The proportions simply shifted, which is a rarer and more honest way of doing it.
- Real garlic, not powder or extract: it goes in with the cure and dries with the meat.
- Seriously protein-dense, like the rest of the beef range.
- No heat, no smoke: this is the savoury outlier rather than another step up the chilli ladder.
How Kuivalihakundi makes it
Finnish farm beef, cut from rump roast, salt-cured and then dried slowly in low-temperature chambers. The slow drying is what does the work here: garlic that is hit with heat turns harsh, while garlic given hours at low temperature rounds off and settles into the meat instead of sitting on top of it.
Taste and texture
Closer to a roasted clove than a raw bulb. The garlic is warm and rounded, it arrives with the savoury cure rather than ahead of it, and it lingers for a good while after the last piece has gone. Black pepper works quietly at the back, and the beef is still the loudest thing in the bag. The strips are dense and properly chewy, the way low-temperature drying leaves them.
Who it is for
Anyone whose favourite pizza order contains the words "extra garlic". It is very good on its own, better with a sharp aged cheese, and genuinely excellent next to a glass of red. Put it on a board with cured sausage and it disappears first.
Frequently asked
How strong is the garlic, honestly? Present in every bite and still there ten minutes later. Not a shy jerky. Plan your meetings accordingly.
How does it compare to Original? Same beef, same drying, same restrained sweetness from the cure. Original keeps garlic in the background; here it is the point of the bag.
Which pack size? A 50 g bag for one person, a 150 g bag for a household, and a 20 x 50 g case if you have colleagues who keep finding your drawer.
