Chokay Treat Milk Salty Liquorice – salmiak-dusted almonds in milk chocolate
Chokay Treat Milk Salty Liquorice is a 110 g bag of whole almonds coated in Chokay milk chocolate and dusted with salty liquorice powder, made without added sugar. If you grew up on salmiak you know what happens next. If not, this is the friendliest introduction going: the milk chocolate softens the salt, the almond gives you something to bite, and the liquorice arrives at the end.
Why this bag empties faster than it should
Three layers per piece: roasted almond in the middle, 70% milk chocolate around it, salty liquorice powder on the outside. Every piece hits in that order.
Almonds at 28%: over a quarter of the bag is almond, which is why there is 12.5 g of protein per 100 g.
Real liquorice, not just flavouring: the dusting is made with salmiak and liquorice root extract, so the salty edge is genuine.
How Chokay builds it
Chokay is a Dutch brand working with premium Belgian chocolate and freshly roasted nuts. The milk chocolate is built without added sugar, using maltitol and steviol glycosides as sweeteners plus chicory inulin as a dietary fibre. Cocoa solids: 38% minimum.
Taste: creamy milk chocolate first, then salt, then that unmistakable liquorice tang.
Texture: a fine powdery coating, a smooth chocolate shell and a hard almond crunch underneath.

Is it vegan? No. This is milk chocolate made with whole milk powder and skimmed milk powder, so it is suitable for vegetarians but not vegans.
What exactly is the liquorice powder? A 2% dusting of salmiak, liquorice root extract and sunflower oil — the salty Nordic style, not the sweet kind.
How salty is it? Not very, in nutritional terms: 0.25 g salt per 100 g. The salty hit comes from the salmiak on the outside.
