Sunshine Delights Dippies Dark Chocolate Mango are thick strips of soft dried mango, half-dipped in dark Peruvian chocolate, in a 100 g bag. They come from Sunshine Delights, the Hamburg dried fruit brand, and they are the top seller in the Dippies line for a simple reason: ripe mango and proper dark chocolate were always going to get on.
Why this one
Half-dipped, not drowned: one end chocolate, one end fruit, so you taste both in every bite.
Dark chocolate with real cocoa depth: bitter enough to balance the sweet mango.
High in fibre: it eats like a treat but it is still mostly fruit.
The same mango as the plain pack: soft, thick-cut, grown in Cambodia.
How it is made
The mango is dried first, the same way as the plain Sunshine Delights Mango. The strips are then dipped partway into melted dark chocolate made with Peruvian cocoa and left to set. Keep the bag at room temperature and out of direct sun so the chocolate stays glossy.
Taste and texture
Snap of chocolate, then soft chewy mango, then the two together. Sweet, tangy, slightly bitter. Of the three Dippies this is the fruitiest; the pineapple is sharper and the dates and cashew version is richer and nuttier.
Who it is for
The after-dinner moment when a whole bar of chocolate is too much. Gift boxes and care packages. Anyone who already buys the plain mango and wants the weekend version.
