Chokay BIO Bite Dark Peanut Rocks is a bag of irregular cocoa-covered rocks, each one built around roasted peanuts and made without added sugar. You open the bag intending to have two, and somewhere around the tenth you begin negotiating with yourself. Rich, roasted and deliberately low on sweetness — not a bag for people who like their chocolate polite.

Chokay is a Dutch chocolate maker based in Breda, in the Netherlands, and the Bites come loose in a bag rather than moulded into a bar. A rock is not a neat praline: each one is a lump of roasted peanut with the cocoa built up around it, so the sizes vary and the surface stays rough. That is the whole appeal. It eats like something scooped out of a jar rather than lifted out of a tray.
