Indiana Beef Jerky 12 g: the pocket-sized version of the classic
Indiana Beef Jerky 12 g is the Beef Original recipe shrunk to a single-snack pack. Same EU-sourced beef, same cure, same slow dry, just three or four strips instead of a bagful. It is the smallest beef jerky format Indiana makes and the one that disappears into a pocket without anybody noticing.
Why this one
- Nothing to ration: a big bag asks you to show restraint. This one is over before restraint becomes relevant.
- No half-finished bag rattling around: you open it, you finish it, there is no fold-over-and-hope stage.
- The full Original recipe: identical to what goes into the 25 g, 60 g and 90 g bags, so nothing has been watered down for the format.
- High in protein for something this small: a genuinely dense few strips rather than a token taster.
How Indiana makes it
Beef is cured, lightly smoked and dried slowly until the strips are firm but still bend, then packed under a protective atmosphere in a small flat sachet that survives being sat on. It keeps at room temperature until opened, and at this size there is no meaningful storage question afterwards.
Taste and texture
Dry rather than glazed. There is no sticky sweetness, which is what separates Indiana from a lot of jerky sold in Europe: you get salt, a light woodsmoke and a peppery savoury finish that hangs around for a minute after the last strip. The strips tear along the grain rather than crumbling, and the chew is the honest sort that makes a small pack feel like more.
When to reach for it
The half hour between finishing work and getting home. The side pocket of a gym bag, alongside the wraps you also forgot to use. A hiking jacket, where weight matters and a full bag does not make the cut. Handy, too, when someone wants to try Indiana before committing to a proper bag.
Frequently asked
How many strips are in a pack? Roughly three or four, depending on how the slices fell. Enough to count as a snack rather than a sample.
Is the recipe the same as the larger Beef Original bags? Yes. Same beef, same cure, same smoke. Only the pack size changes.
Does it need a fridge? No. It is sealed to be shelf-stable, which is exactly why it works in a coat pocket in August.
